Hitler was much more like the US rightwing than the Soviets. The Soviets were not so much about phony patriotism, war-mongering, industry and nationalism as about control of the masses. In fact when it came to industrialism the Soviets were poor at it. The Nazis however were brilliant capitalists giving those at the top of their cabal power over industry and the masses. Not so different as Bush-Cheney's military-industrial big oil cabal and big HMO and banking pals, all of whom have screwed the Americvan people royally.
Both forms of totalitarianism are forms of rightwing military dictatorships. Because when a communist (leftist "for the people by the people") government leaves behind its egalitarian principles and turns into a military dictatorship run by the party elite it actually becomes a fascist state, or very similar to one.
The German Nazis did a lot of business with the Bush family bank in the 30's. His family comes out of that tradition, putting industry and elitist power and control over the good and the rights of the people. It is a tempting thing for the elite, some form of fascism with his upper class in control. It is also tempting for the "angry white man" type on the street who feels he's been emasculated. He likes a tough bully type leader who goes to war, even for false reasons. Like many German men, he might enlist as part of the war-mongering herd, always shouting hatred at other ethnic groups, they always need a scapegoat, preferably one with oil opr other wealth they can pillage.
After 9-11 and into the invasion of Iraq, the USA was turning fascist, and all you people are guilty of trying to push us there. I think it's time we all recognized that, and how dangerous that became for our democracy. Yes, it could happen here. McCarthy tried it in the 50's and the Bushies did again in this past decade. |
