The network model is so much more robust and reliable than the mainframe model.


Perhaps an analogy to the internet of connected machines is possible - but I do tend to doubt the reliability of the system if it requires constant maintenance. It's fine for a 25-45 year old guy climbing up on the roof all the time - but I can't imagine the elderly taking care of the systems. They need to be fairly bullet proof in the long run.

If the installation cost would come in around $5-10K, I'd have one already. At this price point I would expect all builders to just include them like a "standard" appliance.
