I do not see an INTC affiliation here but rather a cooperative effort on both SVGL's and CYMI's part to respond quicker to customer needs. The CYMI unit is a stand alone unit away from the Micrascan. Instead of having SVGL training its own staff to work on the laser unit in addition to the Micrascan itself, this effort gives the customer the best of two worlds.

From my personal experiences with a certain laser based Critical Dimension measuring tool, this cooperative effort is just what the customer wants. In my particular case, the vendor would come in and replace the laser (requiring recalibration of the tools against standards and then more recal as the laser settled in) since it was easier than trying to figure out what was wrong. Having this type of cooperative effort will be met with good customer receptance. Having the two critical experts working as a team on these very expensives systems will minimize downtime and probably reduce overall cost of ownership (COO). This is a good selling point for SVGL and should help them with their customers down the road. CYMI, on the otherhand, will have a good amount of service related dollars coming in to augment their other sources of revenue.

Sort of like having your own set of specialists.
