I just did a quick search on the Census Bureau website and came up with their study on income distribution, poverty, and health insurance in the US. Look at table A-2 in this document. In 1999, you will see that the median male wage earner pulled in $44,035, and in 2006 (last year of data in this study), pulled in $42,261. Total number of male workers was approx 63M. On the female side, the corresponding numbers are $31,844 and $32,515, with 44.6M workers, with a female to male earnings ratio of .769 in 2006... The numbers include workers 15 years and older.
