As your email friend very sagely, very wisely noted, everyone is working hard to deleverage. Thus, interest rate cuts are irrelevant and that is why the cuts have not worked.

In a weird almost subconscious way, I think the major players know that they have stepped into it and are trying to step out but of course also know that there will be nasty smell and stuff to wipe of the soles of their Lobbs and Edward Greens and some of that nasty stuff will get on their wool white carpets and smell for weeks/months and maybe even ruin shoes and carpets.

Bernanke must raise rates, get in tune with what the Biggies and the Smallies want to do, push them along, encourage and manage the deleveraging. He is doing the exact opposite of what is needed and what the Biggies want, even if they can't say it and may even hardly know it.
