Right. US currency and financial crisis will be much worse
for the globe, since
US takes quite a chunk of global GDP, already cut
significantly through dollar depreciation. USD is also the
major reserve currency. Without US consumption the globe will
slide into a bad recession. The question is, when will it
be enough? USD did fall very significantly already. I suspect
this is really the last cleansing flush, which may last any
time from 3 to 9 months. Then the Fed will start raising
to protect the buck. They are trying to inflate out of
the housing mess. It also seems quite likely that a
coordinated CB action will be attempted to slow down the buck
crash, like one this Wednesday. The Fed and CBs seem to
be after correcting global imbalances, but they definitely
don't want a USD crash.
