Example of how the far left approaches the Cuba issue:

See... I don't think anyone disputes that life in Cuba is sub-optimal. It's the concept that the Communist revolution made things WORSE that people disagree with. In fact the revolution simply took a situation where common people were beholden to hyper-capitalist/kleptocrat overlords, and replaced it with a situation where they are beholden to a dictatorship clad in token shreds of socialist ideology.

The Miami Cubans are largely the descendants of the pre-revolutionary criminal elite, so it's little wonder that they think things would be "better" if they were back in charge. Their parents and grandparents enjoyed a life of luxury, not toiling in the plantations and brothels of Batista's "paradise".

Thread is about the Cuban soccer players who just defected in Tampa.

It is pretty typical in that it makes the bad guys the good guys and vice versa ... those Cubans who immigrated here, started with nothing and became successful are the bad guys ("criminals" to the eyes of the far left) ... those who are okay living in a communist dictatorship are the good guys.
