I didn't say her statement was wrong.

"He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

That statement is true about every major candidate. Who he is, is more than 'he is a black man', however. I was probably going to vote for someone else but not because that other person is not a black man. Should I now vote for Obama to prove my choice isn't a rejection of the candidate who is black, or can I reject Obama just because of his tendency to lean toward socialism and appeasement of terror groups? <sarc>

People select other people for many reasons and one of the common reasons is that they like what the look represents. Usually those first impressions disappear as we get to know more about a person. Romney would have got the election easily if it were only about looks. We like a healthy look because it represents vitality, we like attractive people because they are easier to look at while we are listening. Some of us like ourselves better when we select people and know we haven't compromised our principles of fairness, so we go out of our way to consider different types of people. Some of us self select candidates we see as representing our look and heritage.

Tip_o_the_iceburg on looks but, so what. Once candidates pass the look test, which they all have to do, then reasonable people check them off on the remainder of thier list of criteria. Obama passed the looks test for many voters but so does every other finalist. It is probably a wash between voters who would vote against him for the 'just because he's black' reason and voters who would vote for him for that reason, making it relatively insignificant as an issue. He's black and that may be a plus to some voters as it is a minus for others. There is much more to the man and most of us will vote for him or against him based on those issues.

Hillary has ugly hips but that's not why I'd vote against her.
