As long as there are no extraordinary anomalies, like baying at the moon, I stick to policy positions. It's hard enough to find policy positions that you can accept without adding further reasons to throw up one's hands. Definitely agree with that. Its not only "hard enough", it keeps getting harder. (Although part of that has been because of my changes not changes in candidates, I'm more libertarian than I used to be, and sometimes it seems its almost as hard to find a serious libertarian candidate as it is to find someone running under the Nazi flag, or with a plan to implement Sharia law)
