I have to admit I haven't been following those discussions except for the information you've posted here uncle.

I have been focusing by writing emails and calling about Bill S.22. It's been sort of a pet project of mine for a few years to hammer congress on the gap between public perception and the reality armed service personnel face in regard to obtaining a college education after serving 4 or more years.

As Republicans we should be pounding congressional leadership to pass this bill. I believe it's a win-win for our country, both in terms of creating jobs and in terms of creating a better environment for our recruiters to entice young men and women to serve.

With a little luck and a little more involvement by the American people, it could pass before President Bush leaves office. It's finally getting some traction!
