For educational purposes: Karnofsky Performance Scale Assessment:
Stage 1 100% normal, no evidence of disease
90% able to carry on normal activity
80% normal activity with effort
Stage 2 70% unable to carry on normal activity
60% requires occasional assistance
Stage 3 50% requires considerable assistance
40% disabled; requires special care
Stage 4 30% severely disabled
In the above mentioned studies, it would be helpful clinically, if the CDC stage/Karnofsky scores were given.
For federal/state programs, disability is usually allowed at Stage 2 (disclaimer: not necessarily official gov't policy).
