Let me play devils advocate here for a second. I was listening to a local right wing nut job for a few minutes on the radio on the way home last night... and he was talking about Obama's church and quoting the ministers sermons which were very anti-white. And he was doing a good job (considering his redneck audience) of linking Obama to this stuff.

So... imagine you a loyal Dem 'super delegate' and we're approaching the convention and you are meeting in a private room with the Hillary folks for their pitch. And they say:

"Let's talk about Barack's electability. First thing is he's a black guy, and there are a certain number of people in this country that will never vote for a black. If you think Bill/Hill made race an issue, just wait for the Republican 527's. And then the 527's will go after his church which has an anti-white racist minister. And of course the 527s will bring out that his father was a polygamist. My 3AM ad will look like nothing when they get done with him on national security. Already we have polls that 15% of the public thinks Obama is a Muslim, just wait 'till the talk show hosts and the 527s get done with his Muslim father and Muslim school in Indonesia... they will make him the ultimate Manchurian candidate from bin Laden himself. 30+% will think he's a Muslim. Are you going to risk our best chance at the Presidency in 8 years when you have the proven Clinton brand that has won the big states and is completely vetted, warts and all? Just because Obama has a couple of dozen more delegates out of thousands? We might not get another chance at the White House for 8 years! Obama spells nothing but R-I-S-K. The right wing 527s will eat him alive... if they can swift boat war hero Kerry think what they can do to Obama."

That might not be the exact argument to the super delegates... but it will be along those lines. Will that argument work? If Hill has some momo going into the convention, and if there are just a handful of delegates separating the two, then I think the supers will go for the safe choice... which is probably Hillary. Barack need a BIG lead going into the convention so that the supers don't have ANY choice.

But what do I know...
