True. I recall the same thing WRT oil shale some years back.

That said, I live in an area where there are hundreds, perhaps over 1,000 windmills. No matter how many of these they set up (at a cost of over $1.0 million per, wind energy will be only a small part of the country's energy consumption. Geothermal even less. I have no idea where solar fits in, but would think the size of the collectors is so large that it is not a terribly practical solution at this time.
