I think what we are seeing now is forced liquidation of the favored long bets of many of the hedge funds. This in turn pushes down the indexes which then pushes down all other index components. Such intense negative sentiment out there. It could get worse before it gets better for equities. There are some good values starting to appear- not every financial company got caught up in fashionable junk assets, and the US economy is not going to collapse, even if we are in the midst of a hard landing. JMHO. I'm always early in thinking up a contrarian thesis for a market turn...
