This really isn't so complicated.
13.3% of the US population is black.

I have read that blacks make up roughly 20% of the voters in democrat primaries. That's makes perfect sense because only about 50% of all voters are democrats and most blacks are democrats.
In these primaries, Obama is getting somewhere between 80% and 90% (probably at the higher end - which is totally ridiculous) of black voters instead of a random 50%. IMO that means he is starting with around a 7% advantage over Hillary Clinton because he is black (using 85%).
More than 7% of democrat voters would have to be voting against him because he is black just to offset that factor alone. Now if you are going to tell me that more than 7% of all democrats are bigots, I'm going to disagree with you, but I suppose it is possible.
In addition, there is NO QUESTION AT ALL that Hillary and Bill Clinton have been attacked way more than Obama by the mainstream press (excluding the last 2 weeks when things turned the other way). IMHO, part of the reason for that is that the media and elites on the left are enamored with the "idea" of a black man being elected and have made it a story on to itself instead of focusing on some of his shortcomings. In addition, others are unwilling to attack as fiercely because they don't want the racist card to be played against them. How much this has all been worth to Obama all along and how much it will hurt him now that the media has finally decided to examine his qualifications, relationships, programs etc.... is debatable, but it was definitely a plus for quite awhile. You would have to be delusional to think the reporting was balanced between the Clintons and Obama before the last few weeks.
Finally, there is also no doubt that there are some young idealistic whites that are attracted to the idea of voting for a bright competent black man because it makes them feel good about themselves.
There simply aren't enough white bigots in the democrat party to offset the extra black votes, the media bias, and youthful enthusiasm that he has generated because he is black.
Of course you could make similar arguments about Hillary being a woman. And they would also NOT BE OFFENSIVE because they would also be the truth!
Pat Buchanan actually has it right.
