I've been against impeaching Bush (and Cheney, you can't do it except to get Cheney out, too) because it would distract from the goals in November. It would invite backlash. And we want independents and Republicans to support the ticket.

But I have serious second thoughts.

Should we allow our economy take the hits we are going to have for 10 more months, or do we need a President (Pelosi?) and a Treasury Secretary that have a horizon of 10 and 20 and 50 years, not just their remaining time in office or even their lifetimes?

Bush is not just aloof; he is out of touch. He is literally out of it. Out of feeling the effects and out of the process of solutions.

I suppose the worse it gets, the better it will be for Obama's chances in November.

But this is not just about November or next January 20. It is about our country.

We need to see how Congress can be more effective. But they don't get it, either.
