<< Headlines come out with "RECORD" news. Has the company ever had a net loss of $17,274,000 in a quarter? which is .66cents per share. So better put, the company for the first 9 months has lost $0.11 per share for the nine months ended Septmenber 30th.
Tonto: A charge is a completely different thing than earnings. Adding them together is just for accounting purpose, it make no sense in predicting future earning potential. Basically a charge is like saying , "oops, the investment has been wasted. I've got to stop here." But note that this investment has already been made, maybe over a long course, so it has little efffect on the cash position of current quarter (It sure will reduces the total assets), and it does not indicate that so much money has been lost in one quarter. Of course, it'll be a different story if a reduction in cash position has resulted, but I don't think that's the case.
I think the quarter is very good, except that DSO is way too high. PMylnar made a good observation that the high DSO is due to the aquisition, although I, frankly, don't understand this matter. The charge was basically a non-issue, as a charge always is.
