The rightwing media is a violation of free speech. When the Founders set up Free Speech and encouraged a strong independent press, they did not mean a strong partisan propaganda machine to counter facts, truth and real debate, and coverup crimes of corrupt politicians. They meant just the opposite.

The Founders wanted our press to be able to take down corrupt presidents. But looking at Fox and the rightwing talkshows, all we see are coverups of any and all GOP crimes and ethics violations, and exaggerated attacks and slander vs. any democrat, even those who have done nothing wrong.

Besides, rightwing radio is now a monopoly in much of the country and that's blatantly illegal and un-American. People at least need a choice. Though I would also say we need to find a way to make smear campaigns criminal. So long as the rightwing thinks smear campaigns work to steal elections they will keep using them and it undermines our democracy at the core.
