Well, perhaps I mistook your views, but they were the views of many people who cheered on the housing boom as though some new miracle of low inflation and wealth appreciation had dawned on mankind.

The problem with those who push economic growth relentlessly, is that today is always the best time to grow, and tomorrow is always the best time to deal with any problems that result from said growth policies. Unfortunately, tomorrow eventually arrives.

Everyone cheered the recovery from the last mild recession, but few voiced great concerns about what those policies might bring later. It would appear that the cure for the 2002-03 problems is inducing a more severe problem than the original one. One would think that economists could vaguely figure this out predictively, rather than in the rearview mirror.
