And here is slightly older news on a competing program for the same (interleukin-5) target:

ceptiontx.com

"Ception Therapeutics, Inc. announced today the initiation of a multi-center, Phase II/III clinical trial to evaluate reslizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody (mAb) against interleukin-5 (IL-5), for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) in pediatric patients." The Ception mAb was originally developed by Schering-Plough.

Going back to the GSK study in NEJM, it describes an interesting patient selection feature:

" All patients were negative for the FIP1L1–PDGFRA fusion gene, on the basis of in situ hybridization to detect deletion of the cysteine-rich hydrophobic domain 2 (CHIC2) locus, a FIP1L1–PDGFRA surrogate, in peripheral-blood mononuclear cells."

I understand that imatinib mesylate (Gleevec) and similar inhibitors may be good therapies for patients positive for this fusion. bloodjournal.hematologylibrary.org

I also seem to recall that one or both of these anti-IL5 mAbs had failed trials involving asthma patients "in general." So, the theme of intelligent patient selection may be more than a curiosity in this case.

PS And, yes, whatever GSK paid the marketing people who came up with the name Bosatria was way too much. Apart from Balkan implications it also sounds a bit like "bosta" making its marketing an uphill battle in a number of South American countries.
