Yes we have John. For the very general - Look at real dollars of GDP per energy used. For some specific example - Look at the amount of gasoline used for a car of a certain size, weight and power.

No you might think we can and should, perhaps even need to, go a lot further than that, but even if you assume that we can and need to do a lot more, it doesn't change the point that we have greatly increased energy efficiency.
