Found this while researching Compaq and their intention to lower notebook prices. Do not know if it is old news.

Twinhead Corp. Now Offers OR Technology's 120MB Floppy Disk Drive as Optional Equipment in Notebook Computers
CAMPBELL, CALIF. (Oct. 14) BUSINESS WIRE -Oct. 14, 1997--OR Technology
Inc. Tuesday announced that its 120MB floppy disk drive, the a:drive,
will be offered as optional equipment by Twinhead Corp., a leading
worldwide OEM supplier of notebook computers.

Twinhead will also offer the a:drive in its Slimnote XL notebook
computer product line.

Integrated in the system's multi-bay as an add-on module, the a:drive
will provide users with 80 times the capacity and up to five times the
performance of traditional floppy disk drives when LS-120 diskettes are
used.

"We expect customers will enjoy the convenience of a high capacity,
high performance floppy disk drive," said Marc McCormick, marketing
manager for Twinhead Corp. "By meeting our form factor, performance
and reliability specifications with their slim-line a:drive, OR
Technology provides a very practical solution for mobile storage
needs."

"Already one of the world's largest, Twinhead's reputation as a world
class supplier of notebook computers is growing at a rapid pace," said
Steven Lam, chairman of the board, OR Technology. "This agreement
opens the doors for Twinhead's diverse customer base to offer the
a:drive as an option in their branded product lines."

McCormick said the company will start shipping "LS-120-Ready" Slimnote
XL notebook computers in November and a:drive modules in the first
quarter of 1998. Twinhead shipped 292,000 units with revenues of $505
million in 1996. With a newly expanded facility in Taiwan, Twinhead
anticipates shipping 440,000 units in 1997 and expects continued growth
in 1998.

OR Technology's a:drive stores up to 120MB on a single LS-120 diskette
and is compatible with current 3.5-inch floppy disk technology. It can
read and write to both 1.44MB and 720KB diskettes, providing an upward
migration path for millions of floppy disk users and the billions of
diskettes they own.

In addition to Twinhead, OEM manufacturers offering LS-120 drives as
optional equipment include Arsys Innotech Corp., Compaq Computer Corp.,
Everex and NEC Computer Systems Division of Packard Bell NEC Inc. Most
new computer systems shipping today are "LS-120 Ready", providing
native BIOS and operating system support for LS-120 technology.

LS-120 laser servo technology was developed jointly by OR Technology,
Compaq Computer Corp.(CPQ), Imation and Matsushita-Kotobuki Electronics
Industries Ltd. (MKE)(6783 JP).

In addition to these key companies, OR Technology's manufacturing
partners include Kaifa Group (0021 CH), Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (6503
JP) and Maxell Corp.

Twinhead Corp. designs, manufactures and markets notebook computers for
the North American market. Based in Fremont, Calif., the privately
held company focuses exclusively on mobile computing products.

In the 10 years since its formation, the wholly owned subsidiary of
Twinhead International Corp. (TIC) of Taiwan has become one of the
world's leading suppliers of notebook computers. The U.S. operation
was established in 1989. TIC also operates subsidiaries in Germany,
France and the United Kingdom.

OR Technology, with headquarters in Campbell, sells, designs and
manufactures data storage products using laser servo technology for
which it holds significant patents. OR Technology markets the a:drive,
a product compatible with current floppy diskettes that stores up to
120MB of data on a single SuperDisk diskette.
