Obama just made one of the greatest speeches in American history. It ought to be required reading for every child in the country, and every adult, of all races. Because it cut through all the BS to the heart of the problem in this country, which has since its founding, the issue of racial division. Obama doesn't just see through the confusion to the heart of the black experience but the white and latino experience as well. He would truly be one of our greatest presidents, yet he is humble. Oprah was right. What a great American. He should win the election by a landslide.
In winning, I now believe Obama would not only lift of people of color, but white as well, especially the middleclass and lower middleclass whites who have also been victimized by racism, their own racism which has largely been fed to them by the rightwing political machine, which can only succeed if it divides America, increases hatred and distrust, starts needless wars, clamps down on the free press and honest debate, and increase corruption.
Now is the time, America, this is our chance to finally heal those old wounds and go forward as a much greater nation than before, from the ashes, ruins and resentment of the Bush years, this is our chance. So let's not blow it by voting for anyone but Barack Obama, one of the greatest Americans I have ever seen, heard or even read about. What an amazing man, and what a great-great patriot and Christian. |
