Suma, I support nuclear power as part of a balanced national energy policy. The plants, like other major industrial facilities, should not be built in a densely populated area. I believe the waste issue is over blown and has been the vehicle of choice chosen by opponents of nuclear power. If we want to seriously reduce green house gases nuclear energy is a prime option. I have read that if we did what France did - we would meet our Kyoto goals today.

Also, there is only one facility in the world now that makes the containment vessels and it is booked solid for years.

The near term option of choice will be natural gas. The plants are quick to build and provide hope that the greens will not turn out the lights. Unfortunately we already import large amounts of natural gas.
