I think 1 year from now the discussion will be deflation even in its conventional sense (prices). 2 years from now it will move from discussion to fear. I also think that we will ebb and flow from deflation to inflation, but the secular trend will be deflation.

Markets are very slow moving. These things don't happen overnight. The imbalances were not built overnight. One cannot point to one specific instance as to when the system became imbalanced. Same thing with the unwind. In fact, one can make a strong argument that the unwind began in 1999 when household wealth peaked. It's becoming clearer each day that our society, life, wealth, etc. have deteriorated since then.

Our society always wants instant gratification. It won't happen that way. It will be piece by piece.
