Initial response to Dreamweaver seems very positive. Macromedia placed a beta version of this new product on their site for testing and previewing. In the newsgroup 'forums.macromedia.com' there is a section for Dreamweaver and the response is VERY positive to the product. Professionals doing web pages are commenting that it is the best HTML page editor they've seen. At Macromedia's Users Conference, they said they'll ship it in Dec.

The Users Conference also allowed Macromedia to showcase Flash to a large audience of key developers. Flash is still not well known, but that is slowly changing. Flash could be a key product for Macromedia going forward. It has a lot of potential, but we haven't yet seen Macromedia really market this product strongly. An encouraging sign was their recent announcement that they will create Java players for both Director and Flash. (They're trying to overcome the problem of requiring plug-ins, which is a big problem. Resistance to plug-ins is VERY high on the web.)

After a year of being comatose, I finally see some very positive things happening at Macromedia.
