I'll agree that many economists think long term trade deficits are no more of a problem than many of those same economists thought low interests rates coupled with innovative mortgage products in a "low" inflationary environment were in the last 5 years

You have any data backing up the fact that its the same people?

Whether your do or do not, they are two different issues. And the problem in the 2nd issue isn't as much low interest rates combined with innovative mortgage products as much as it is low credit standards for mortgages combined with a housing bubble, and the bubble's subsequent collapse.
