Kirk said: My point was to say Abby "lost her current position as a market prognosticator" at GS for being about as bullish as Brinker and giving similar results. (emphasis added)

But you don't KNOW that, do you? Did Goldman Sachs say WHY they were transferring her? Perhaps it wasn't a firing or a demotion at all? Perhaps it was more mutual on Cohen and GS's part? Did Goldman Sachs correlate their decision to Brinker and his outlook? I believe all of that may have been an assumption on your part, for which there is little justification.

From WSJ: online.wsj.com

Ms. Cohen, 56 years old, said she wished to move on from forecasting values for the S&P 500, and that Mr. Kostin had been gradually moving into the role.

"One thing I made clear internally was that I wanted to start working on longer-term issues and didn't want to do the day-to-day market analysis," Ms. Cohen said.

***********

Apparently the decision was made some time ago.

In any event, I don't think anyone outside Goldman Sachs can presume to speak for Goldman Sach's or Cohen's motives as to WHY the move was made.
