Obama's speech: 1. Great speech on race. 2. Did not answer the questions I have about the influence his pastor has on him. The most disingenuous part of the speech was saying he could no more disown his pastor than he could his white grandmother, who admitted she was scared every time she saw black men on the street. You are born with your grandmother and you love her because she's your grandmother and she loves you. You learn to ignore her faults because you love her. My grandmother hated the color gray, because of The Civil War. (She was born in 1890s, not in the 1860s.) I thought it was weird, but I didn't care. Now, if I went to a church and the pastor said he hated gray, I would change churches. You choose your pastor. You don't choose your grandmother.
