I think we can all agree that as of today at least, both Bob Brinker and Abby Joseph Cohen were too bullish in their forecast that the S&P 500 would trade into the 1600s this year.

David, not to be argumentative, but how can we agree that either was too bullish for the year, when we are only one quarter into the year? You are perhaps right in your prognostication about that, but who knows?

Neither of them discounted how much corporate earnings would be negatively impacted by the subprime meltdown.

Who did? Did anyone? Did the experts on the Fed foresee it? Could anyone be expected to foresee it? Yes, I know there were those who grumbled about it, like the weather, but like the weather, nobody seemed able to forecast the extent of the disaster.

Now, there are still 9 months left this year, so both Abby and Bob may yet be proven right!

Precisely. (We can only hope!)
