Long time readers of, and contributors to, this thread probably have a severe case of "deja vu all over again" with this Apple-Oracle merger talk. Judging by the stock price action, the Street doesn't seem to take it too seriously either or; if they do, they don't think it will give AAPL much of a boost. We'll see.
But "thessaSOURCE," thessasource.com, seems to think there's something to it this time. An article there has many more details, albeit very preliminary, on what such a merger would look like. Again, we'll see. I'm a skeptic about the whole thing and prefer to withhold judgment until something real develops.
Ugly market in the techs today, so far at least. IBM announced it's having trouble selling computers (the Aptiva line) to home buyers do to a proliferation of $1000 PCs catering to that market. And everyone is fretting about Intel's earnings report coming after the close tonight. All things considered AAPL holding up fairly well.
I'm actuallly looking forward to tomorrows earnings report. We'll finally get some answers about OS 8 sales numbers and whether or not the surge in computer sales after the expo continued beyond all the hype and hoopla coming from Boston.
