10/10 Daniel Kunz, Prominent Mining Industry Leader, Named Executive
Vice-President Of Indochina Goldfields Ltd.

SINGAPORE, Oct. 10 /CNW/ - Daniel Kunz, a leading figure in global mining
for the past decade, has been named Executive Vice-President of Indochina
Goldfields Ltd. The announcement was made jointly by Robert Friedland and
Edward Flood, Chairman and President, respectively, of Indochina Goldfields.
Mr. Kunz, who served previously as President and Chief Executive Officer of
MK Gold Company and Vice-President and Controller of the Morrison Knudsen
Corporation, will concentrate on financing for Indochina Goldfields projects,
mine development and construction. He will be responsible also for mining
production agreements and strategic alliances with potential partners in mine
development. Mr. Kunz holds degrees in engineering science (mining) and
business administration.
''Dan Kunz has an extensive, dynamic background in mining on a global basis,
including impressive achievements in mining finance,'' said Mr. Flood. ''His
initial focus will be on Indochina Goldfields' flagship projects - the Monywa
Copper Mine in Myanmar and the Bakyrchik Gold Mine in Kazakstan. He has
already been instrumental in the completion of a US$90 million financing
agreement to put the Monywa mine into production by mid-1998, and this
financial expertise will also help us increase production significantly at
Bakyrchik.''
Production is scheduled for 1998 at both Monywa, estimated to contain more
than 15 billion pounds of copper, and at Bakyrchik, which has an estimated
resource of 13 million ounces of gold. Indochina Goldfields recently
completed an agreement giving it 86 percent ownership of the Bakyrchik
complex.
Indochina Goldfields' other assets include gold and other interests in
Indonesia, Fiji, Vietnam and South Korea. The company's shares are listed on
the Toronto and Australia stock exchanges under the symbol ING. Information
about Indochina Goldfields and its projects is available on the company's
