AmeriChip International Inc. Builds 'Green' Oil Pipe Demonstratable
2008-03-19 09:00 ET - News Release
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich., March 19, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- AmeriChip International, Inc. (OTCBB:ACII) announced that it will be able to deliver, in the late spring of 2008, a specialized piece of equipment that demonstrates AmeriChip's "green" technology for machining oil pipes.
PIPE THREADING IS COMPLEX
The threading of oil pipes is an extremely complex machining process, requiring perfection and precision of each machined part, and tight-tolerance machining of 45 foot long steel pipes presents daily hazards.
COOLANT IS COSTLY & CAN CAUSE "PITTING"
Coolant and its disposal currently accounts for 20% of pipe threading machining cost. That 20% is entirely eliminated by Laser Assisted Chip Control (LACC) technology.
Besides cost, the primary disadvantage of coolant is that, in some instances, coolant has been found to cause "pitting" on the threads of pipes, which if not corrected can cause an "embolism" when the pipe is installed and operating under great pressure.
The resulting oil pipe leaks are costly and difficult to resolve in the field. AmeriChip's LACC technology eliminates "pitting" on the threads of pipes.
COST SAVINGS
In addition to increasing oil pipe thread quality, AmeriChip's technology reduces the amount of capital equipment required to thread oil pipe, providing AmeriChip's oil pipe threading customers a competitive advantage.
"The savings that will be realized as a result of the application of the LACC technology will allow our customers to increase their market share in this billion dollar worldwide industry," said Edward Rutkowski, AmeriChip's Chief Technology Officer.
DEMONSTRATABLE
Mr. Rutkowski said he is spearheading the project to manufacture in-house a "demonstratable" which will enable AmeriChip to demonstrate to oil pipe manufacturers and threaders the LACC technology in action.
Mr. Rutkowski and his Research Director, Daniel Green, have developed additional "green" technologies with respect to the implementation of AmeriChip's LACC process in the highly specialized oil pipe industry.
Headquartered in Clinton Township, MI, USA, AmeriChip International Inc., a patented technology company, holds a patented technology known as Laser Assisted Chip Control (LACC), which can be used to re-engineer the manufacturing process for industrial metal machining applications. AmeriChip is committed to keeping jobs in America for Americans.
