One thing I have not figured out on miners is why it takes so long to go from finding good results to being able to mine. From the LGC press release it is very clear there are large deposits of gold within this project, so why does one have to continue to drill more cores?

Possible explanations I can think of include:

1) Perhaps the bankable feasibility study requires a certain number of holes, and hence the capital to mine is all based on getting X number of holes drilled

2) perhaps the company budgeted X amount of dollars on exploration and by golly they are going to spend it

3) perhaps the government requires x number of holes to be drilled or some such ridiculousness

This is in contrast to oil/gas where when they drill a well they pretty much cap that thing and start pumping as soon as they hit oil. This makes supply in oil/gas more easily changed in the short run over that of gold. And as one speculating on gold miners I like that ideas. Many of these exploration companies have just started their big push, as I see it due to the high price of gold in recent years. I'm sure money flow towards new gold mines is more abundant. Still, it takes so long to get from propected field, to holes drilled, to feasibility study, to gold mined and finally gold sold.

Just some thoughts. If anyone knows why it takes so long to get from gold deposits found to mining please let me know.
