Albert, great news in AMD roadmap! Thanks!
Here's some of the good news:
1. The itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny die size (68mm sq) K6 must still be scheduled for release before end of year
2. The K6-3D is only an itsy-bit-bigger at 81mm and it has NEW 3D CAPABILITY SUPPORTED BY MICROSOFT and game companies. I suspect these instructions are the same ones to be used by IDT in their C6+.
3. SLOT 1 for K7 is smart. It is decidedly NOT a clone of the Intel slot 1, just the same mechanical configuration to make it easier on MB makers. New Alpha-compatible electrical signals will enable pipelined bus and other niceties such as multiprocessor systems.
4. Clock Speeds -- looks like, for 1st 6 months of '98 we'll be just one speed grade behind Intel (instead of 2). K6+ due 2H '98 will be as fast or faster than Deschutes 400 MHz due the same time.
