Most homes have only a 200 amp service at 240 volts. If you totally took all the power your service provides (that's 48 KWHRS per hr rate) it would take about an hour and a half to fully charge a Tesla roadster if it was using A123's cells. That is the fastest you could charge a dead battery to 100% capacity.

The only problem is the NEC (National Electrical Code) would not allow you to do this!

A123 has great batteries and they are probably going public late this year. Tesla actually looked at their batteries but passed on them a couple years ago.
