McCain is as moderate as they can get.

Well he is a "maverick" but I'm not sure he's a moderate.

First he says Iran is sending al qaeda into Iraq. Soon he will say Gulf of Tonkin resolution gives the US president all the authority he needs in Iraq. I dont think i can ever vote for a candidate who has yet gotten over our defeat in Vietnam much less recognize the quag in Iraq.

I think he is a weak candidate. And I think you are right that there is room for a "moderate" third party. Hagel just released a book where he says that's what America needs, and he may be right.

If it is Obama/McCain they will throw so much garbage at Obama it will look like a garbage truck. But in the end McCain has so many negatives, especially Iraq, I think Obama wins.

The imaginary polls right now have no meaning... for one thing McCain has an advantage as 'the nominee' instead of just a candidate, for another there is still a lot of animosity between Obama and Hill voters. That hopefully will mostly go away after the convention.
