Actually, it does. Wright's statements seem to be outrageous against the backdrop of some very impressive work. You can see that, if you wish, by reading his sermon that Allen posted here, by reading what his UCC colleagues have to say about him. And so on.

And read against the discrimination/segregation that Afro-Americans have faced in this country.

Neither of this is true of Duke's statements. There is a long and consistent history of racist statements, practices, etc.

The parallel is a political trick.

If you wish, I'll be happy to discuss specific statements of Wright's that bother you. I see them as exaggerations of some claims that are not that far off. Given the history of race in this country and Wright's experiences.
