Thousands of African-Americans sang hymns on trains to Chicago. They would stop their watches as they passed the Mason-Dixon line, and bring their church sensibilities with them. Wow, I have no idea what this person means. I thought the Mason-Dixon Line was sort of between Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Why would they "stop their watches"?
