Nuance Communications Shares Climb Thursday March 20, 2:41 pm ET Nuance Communications Climbs Following Upbeat Analyst Note NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Nuance Communications are inching higher in the heels of an upbeat analyst note saying the speech and imaging software maker's quarter is on track even amid the economic slowdown. Daniel Ives, an analyst with Friedman, Billings, Ramsey, says Nuance's business is progressing in a challenging environment. The company, Ives wrote in a note to investors, is getting good business from call centers as they adopt speech technology. Nuance is also benefiting from hospitals and radiologists shifting to new, speech-based recording technologies. This, the analyst says, could buoy the company's growth prospects for the next 12 to 18 months. Ives rates Nuance's shares "Outperform."
