As for the halo effect point, that certainly doesn't contribute to keeping these conversations civil. LOL. You find that uncivil? That was every bit as "gentle" as my "gossip" suggestion. You're just not receptive to it. "But I'm also analytical enough and detached enough to separate the various threads of both his comments and his context for inspection and discussion." Which is, of course, by quick inference, to say that I am not....But to argue that putting things in context is to lack analytical abilities is to, just to be kind, to miss the point. Yes, I'm saying that you're not...(gasp)...disinterested. Do you disagree with that? Surely not. And surely you also know that interest compromises analysis. Don't get all huffy. I didn't suggest that you were stupid. Just interested. I know that you have the mental capacity to differentiate between the concepts of sin and sinner. You just can't bring yourself to do so in a case where that might give aid and comfort to the binary enemy.
