In law school, we learned it this way:

1. Majority American Rule
1a. the English Rule, sometimes
2. Minority American rule
3. Common law rule
4 and then there is Louisiana law (unstated but definitely implied, which you can forget about)

In thirty years of practice, I have found a lot less divergence in the law across American jurisdictions than I had anticipated. In the very few occasions where I have looked at Louisiana law, it seems to have been pretty much the same.

Curious, what is your understanding of the sitpulation pour autri.
