Al,

Are you oversimplifying? The states slated for receiving this stuff have been fighting as well.

It is one state - Nevada. Both Obama and Hillary are on record opposing the disposal site.

Only if we chose it to be so...that is without a disposal and recycling process.

My experience with fluorescents (especiall compact fluorescents) has not been a happy one. They are expensive, their life time sucked, probably worse than standard. They even deteriorate and work only partially. And now, I am supposed to go search for a disposal site? How many people will really do so.

I don't know if I am just unlucky, got bad samples of fluorescents or what...

I hope LED lights will not turned out to be the disaster fluorescents are turning into. Another thing I am hoping is that we don't rush into solar at cost of trillions without it going through natural cycle of perfecting the technology.

It is not just the panels. There are some electrical components that need to be in place and they need to be foolproof.

I don't care for your B/W characterization...they have given us a sorely needed awareness that has led to cleaner air, water, protection of species, and the like.

True, it is not B/W, but coal plants are certainly one of the biggest pollutors of both air and water. Without environmentalists, they would be just few legacy plants left, on their way out, instead of being a core of the US power generation - and the reason we have no power source to replace oil, to reduce oil dependency.

But I give them credit for a lot of positive changes they initiated...

Joe
