It is one state - Nevada.

Still a case of not in my backyard.

Both Obama and Hillary are on record opposing the disposal site.

So?

My experience with fluorescents (especiall compact fluorescents) has not been a happy one.

Mine work great. I use them everywhere, including outdoors in the flood lights over the garage. I have not had to replace a single one for four years.

It is not just the panels. There are some electrical components that need to be in place and they need to be foolproof.

Save for the panel, the rest of the parts for a grid system are as old as dirt. What's the problem?

True, it is not B/W, but coal plants are certainly one of the biggest pollutors of both air and water. Without environmentalists, they would be just few legacy plants left, on their way out, instead of being a core of the US power generation - and the reason we have no power source to replace oil, to reduce oil dependency.

You presuppose that coal would be replaced by nukes...but the economics of nukes are awful...you can write the rest of that story better than me.
