Bill Clinton's a "Bitter Queen!"

Shenanigan's, politico.com, Mar 20, 2008

The campaign spouse--we know them all too well. And "family business experts" Larry and Laura Colin, who naturally have a new book out "Family, Inc" let us in on the varying type of P.S. (Political Spouse.) There are four. “There are some spouses whose own careers are too important. We call them the Can’t-Be-Bothered-Wife. Remember Howard and Judy Dean? Where was Mrs. Dean when Howard let out his infamous ‘primal scream’” Laura Colin said. “And of course, Theresa Heinz Kerry came across as ‘The Bitter Queen,’ lashing out at the media at times and coming across very cold,” Larry Colin said. (Whatever, we miss THK!) Moving on, here are the Fab Four: 1. "The Can’t-Be-Bothered Wife. Her career occupies most of her time and attention. When there’s an issue, she listens, gives the required lip-service and goes on with her life. Helpful? Not really. " 2. "The Bitter Queen. She’s resentful and vocal about how hubby is treated. She wears her opinion on her face, which usually results in being marginalized even further." 3. "The Buttinsky. This spouse butts into everything whether justified or not. Part cheerleader/part offensive tackle, spouse just doesn’t know when to shut-up. A positive influence? Sometimes. A pain in the backside. Always." 4. "The Supportive Spouse. The spouse is strong, smart and diplomatic and has the ability to influence voters in a positive manner." Bill Clinton, they say, can be defined as a Buttinsky who turned into a Bitter Queen. A Buttinsky Bitter Queen! And the rest? "Cindy McCain always plays the supportive spouse in her husband’s campaign – dutifully standing by his side, during thick and thin." "Michelle Obama has teetered at times, showing signs of The Bitter Queen. Her husband will need her to be a supportive spouse in the upcoming weeks and months."
