I have great hopes for the next generation. I don't believe they ARE buying into this rhetoric. One of Joseph Campbell's theories was that Jesus had outlived his relevance, his timeliness, that we needed a new mythology (I think he liked the Star Wars one). That is what I see happening with Obama and the young people. They are ready to leave behind the old. Embrace a new reality, one which has far more connection for them, than the racial history of the 20c.
