Since Wright's objectionable language is but a tiny part of what the church does, I don't see how it's contrary at all. The church does a great deal of outreach among the poor- and Obama has expressed concern for the poor. No doubt he gives his money and support for that, rather than for the few words out of a few sermons which you (and he) both find offensive.

I imagine Falwell's church does much good- and a contribution to it would not signal that one approved of Falwell's 9/11 comments.
