Today, a school holiday, seemed like the perfect day to take myself and the kids to New Haven to get a haircut. What could possibly go wrong? For one, my barber who I'd been going to for close to 40 years, had retired three weeks earlier. Actually, the "younger" guy in the next chair over was a bit more talented, but he's a big Red Sox fan. I had been listening to Davidson's amazing comeback to beat Butler but there was no TV or radio to hear the conclusion. On the way home I heard UConn was down four at the half but was sure they'd recover-- like Davidson. I get home and my wife needs my help on a project, my younger son needs me to drive him to a friend's for a sleepover, and my oldest son wants me to make him dinner. I finally get to turn on the TV and it's all over. Over for UConn, my bracket, and worse, my reign as the nation's premier handicapper of college basketball.* Drat.

* Actually, this last part isn't true. But who reads footnotes?
