Kate - one video was altered. why you jump on chinu who walks such a clear line of moderation? the only people who should apologize, if anyone should (as that is growing old), are the ones who would alter a video to make it appear in a 'bad' manner. but as i have said here today... i am becoming proud for the 1st time in 5 years. i was, and i think rightly so, saddened and disgusted with the bloodlust that overtook this country 5 years ago. for the religious among us, there is a penance to pay. we killed innocents. we killed someone who did not commit the crime. all to assuage a lust for vengance. is no way around that. and those who didn't feel that, don't all get up in feathers that all being tarred. and those who felt it and now recant, get over it. don't deflect or get angry that someone, a rev wright, has called you on your bloodlust. is a word for that. what is it? getting defensive, for one thing. tho that is mild. but that states it. say it. we were wrong. iraq had no wmds. we have and are still killing innocents there. they had lights all day and long before, now they at best a few hours a day. their water is contaminated. women who were once safe there are now targets of terrible assaulsts. women there who once worked are now told to stay at home under threat of death.
and we did this because of 9/11 which even the leaders of iraq had nothing to do with? we did this because he was a big bad bogey man with wmnds but... ooops turns out he didn't have any, which the ones who know tried to tell the prez. yep.
why why why should not a preacher call out to his or her people to get down on their knees and admit their sin of vengefulness, to admit that they stood back and let innocents die, and in some cases even gloried in it, so deep in their lust for revenge at the time.
that is the role of a preacher. a preacher of peace. who despises war. who takes the words of jesus to heart... |
