I was struck by the divergent opinions on her role in Northern Ireland. The Times piece tended to picture it as a function of partisan loyalties. But I didn't see it. Just different folk sitting at different places in the process. Her experience lies somewhere between the traditional first lady and the co-president bit they touted in the 92 campaign. I'm willing to assume it's closer to the latter than the former.
